Virginia Commonwealth Wealth University, School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUQ) Gallery will host an exhibition featuring work by its faculty members. The exhibition entitled Seven will run from 14 December to 1 February.
The VCUQ Gallery is exhibiting the work of its faculty for an exhibition of which the theme is the number 7. The faculty will provide seven independent works or one work made up of seven parts. What constitutes a division of parts will depend on the vision and concept of the artist. The artists must work in a size limitation of 38 by 42 cm. The work can be open and playful. The artists are free to interpret the size criteria. Work could range from miniature to large size or could be a combination of sizes.
“This is the first time that the VCUQ Gallery has invited proposals from faculty to participate in an exhibition, based on a common theme, which were then juried. We hoped that this would stimulate innovative solutions for new artwork. The current exhibition shows that the theme was very successfully interpreted by all participating faculty in their own way using a variety of media.” said Dr. Jochen Sokoly Director of VCUQ Art Gallery.
The exhibition will conisist of various mediums, and will include works on paper and canvas, video and photography, design, crafts, time-based and mixed media.
The VCUQ Gallery is open Sundays-Thursdays, 10.00 am - 5.00 pm. Tel: +974 492 7200 / Email: jsokoly@qatar.vcu.edu / Web: www.qatar.vcu.edu
