An American soldier was killed in the city of Mosul, it was reported Thursday. He was killed during an attack on a U.S.-Iraqi patrol in Mosul. Two Iraqi commandos were wounded. An American officer told The AP Iraqi and U.S. forces located 14 unidentified bodies in Mosul on Thursday.

A few minutes later, additional shells hit the other side of the Tigris River. One struck near a mobile phone office in the al-Arasat neighborhood, killing one person.

Several more blasts from an area west of the Green Zone were heard, but their exact location was not known, The AP reported.
