US officials said that they cannot rule out additional attacks in New York and Washington, said CNN.
They added that their “working assumption” is that the attacks in the two cities are acts of “overseas terrorism.”
Two planes flew into the World Trade Center in New York, and another plane slammed into the Pentagon in Washington.
A car bomb also reportedly blew up at the State Department. A fourth plane crashed 80 miles south-east of Pittsburgh.
Fighter aircraft were said to have been scrambled into the skies of Washington in an effort to prevent another plane which was believed to be heading for the city – Albawaba.com
