The US investments in Egypt increased by 25 percent last year, reaching $2.735 billion, according to a report by the Egyptian trade office in Washington.
“The substantial increase in US investment in Egypt was the result of persistent efforts by the authorities concerned, and the government's new incentives to encourage investors," said the report, cited by the weekly Middle East Times.
“US investments increased from $2.19 billion in 1999 to $2.735 billion in 2000,” it said.
Egypt is the fourth-largest country in the Middle East in terms of US direct investment, after Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Israel – Albawaba.com
