ALBAWABA - The Ministry of Defence in Syria announced on Sunday that security forces have taken over the Al-Shadadi base in the northeast.
Syrian security forces took the base, located in southern al-Hasakah Governorate, after the withdrawal of American soldiers.
"The forces of the Syrian Arab Army have taken over the Al-Shadadi military base in the Hasakeh countryside following coordination with the American side," the defense ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
American forces, who came to Syria as part of the international coalition to fight the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group, had been stationed at the base outside the town of the same name.
Last Thursday, the US confirmed that its forces also handed over Al-Tanf base near the borders with Jordan and Iraq to the Syrian government forces.
