US Donates $9.3m to Help the Poor in Alexandria

Egypt and the US signed Monday an agreement under which the latter will donate 9.3 million dollars in aid to finance anti poverty and extremely micro projects for limited income ladies in Alexandria, the daily Al Wafd reported. 

The US charge de affairs in Cairo, Reno Harnish, pointed out that the donation has come in addition to another 15 million dollars in aid by the USAID within a whole US package for Egypt this year. 

The donation has been allocated for the enhancement of anti-poverty projects and financing micro projects in six Egyptian districts in addition to providing loans for ladies with limited income in discriminate human settlements in the region, Harnish said. He added, “the USAID puts financing small projects into consideration as part of its varied projects in Egypt to provide more jobs and alleviate unemployment.” --Albawaba.com
