The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is planning on publishing an annual human development report for the Arab region later this year, a UN official said Thursday.

Nadir Hadj Hammou, UNDP's Resident Representative in the UAE was quoted by Gulf News as saying the report will be compiled and published in December by the UNDP's Regional Bureau for the Arab States (RBAS) in coordination with the Kuwait-based Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.

The RBAS has set up an advisory group that comprises a cross-section of personalities from all walks of life to help in the report, said the official.

The first meeting of the advisory group was recently held in Amman and it discussed the report's main messages.

Hammou said the UNDP Country Offices are contributing to the preparation of the report by providing information. The report will contain also "voices of the youth,” a survey of the Arab younger generation – Albawaba.com
