Unilever Arabia is conducting a charity auction of paintings as part of the company’s ongoing initiatives to effectively partner with local communities to make a difference. The auction which is part of the annual charity event of the company will be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Abdel Majid bin Abdel Aziz, Prince of Mecca at 8.30 pm on June 19 at the Jeddah Hilton. The proceeds from the auction will directly benefit children with special needs. The collection of paintings to be auctioned, are a result of an arts competition organised by Unilever Arabia to tap the artistic efforts of school children from across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“Unilever has an excellent global reputation for its management of corporate social responsibility. Wherever we operate, Unilever includes community support initiatives as part of its ongoing activities. This year our charity event has a special meaning since the works of art have been created by children to contribute towards assisting fellow special needy children. Unilever has a genuine interest in helping young people and we prefer to see the tangible impact of our support. Through this auction, the company aims to be part of the community initiative to enhance opportunities available to children with special needs,” said Jan Zijderveld, company chairman, Unilever Middle East.
This charity initiative ties in with Unilever’s global policy of using its corporate position to effect positive change and engage in activities that effectively use the organisation’s local talents and expertise to make a real difference.
