The UN Security Council on Tuesday called once again for Syria to withdraw its troops from Lebanon.
Syria rejected this call and accused Washington and Paris for trying to manipulate the council, stressing the UN body didn't take any action against the recent Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The 15-member council approved a statement urging Syrian authorities to comply with a previous resolution adopted last month.
"We all know that the resolution would not be implemented overnight," French ambassador Jean-Marc de La Sabliere told reporters, according to AFP. "We will now look forward to the next report when it comes six months from now." (albawaba.com)
