The Emirati department of tourism and commerce marketing (DTCM) launched a training program for the industry's officials that aims at assisting them in mapping out their training process, reported the Gulf News daily.

The new division of DTCM, named 'Tourism and Hospitality Training Solutions', was launched to offer courses that complement existing training programs, and provide the officials with multi-track training solutions for the industry's present and future needs, said the paper.

DTCM director, Mohammed Khamis Hareb, told a press conference that the new division was established to ensure that Dubai's tourism and hospitality sectors are capable of consistently delivering world-class service. "Tourism and Hospitality Training Solutions are the result of months of study and pilot research that confirms industry-based, Dubai-specific training is the key to attaining and maintaining service excellence," he said.

According to the Emirati ministry of tourism, the number of tourists visiting the Emirates increased significantly from 1.67 million in 1993 to 3.2 million in 2000 -- Albawaba.com
