UAE Theater Pioneers Honored

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Information and Culture, has recently attended a function to honor the pioneers of the UAE Theater, which took place at the military officers' club, according to Gulf News

 

In a statement on the event, Saqr Ghobash, the Ministry's Under-secretary said that the function was held to honor dramatists and playwrights who pioneered the theater movement in the UAE and won awards in GCC and Arab theatre festivals. He said the theater movement was considered a landmark in the country's cultural life. 

 

"We are looking forward to the day when UAE theater work would win the applause of the region and the whole Arab nation," he expressed. 

 

Ghobash said that the Ministry was ready to extend support to the country's theater movement in accordance with Sheikh Abdullah's keen desire to see advanced theater activities throughout the UAE. 

 

He added that Sheikh Abdullah had ordered special support and care to be extended to bands that won prizes for their works abroad and that prominent theater figures be honored every year. (Albawaba.com)
