Police in the Emirati city of Ras Al Khaima have arrested several schoolchildren who took summer jobs, reported the Gulf News.
An official said schoolchildren are prohibited from taking up work during the summer vacation, whether paid or volunteer.
He said that whenever a working pupil was arrested, he or she was required to sign a pledge not to work again while in school, or face deportation if caught a second time.
The report did not indicate whether the children belonged to nationals or guest workers, but the deportation threat suggests the latter.
The schoolchildren arrested recently signed the agreement, he said, but some of them would be shown a degree of lenience, considering their family's financial status – Albawaba.com
