The Dubai franchisee of Australia’s leading movie rental chain, Video Ezy, has become the first and only company in the UAE to utilise the Disc Doctor, a polishing machine which removes scratches from DVDs and CDs.

Created six years ago when CD ROMs first entered the video industry, it was developed in Australia by a former Video Ezy employee.

According to Dubai Video Ezy’s Managing Director Mrs Belinda Lee, the machine is capable of resurfacing, then polishing, removing scratches and finger prints from two discs at a time.

Video Ezy uses the machine because they want to ensure that each and every customer consistently has the highest level of quality, therefore it is essential that all DVDs and games are kept as if they’re brand new.

“The Disc Doctor is extremely effective, as long as the scratch hasn’t gone right through, then the disk is generally repairable,” says Mrs Lee.

The smallest scratch in a disc can cause the largest defect when trying to view or listen to the contents. A scratch can deflect laser beams, resulting in information not being able to be read at certain points, therefore the information cannot follow resulting in skipping and information freezing.

“We feel very pleased to be the only store in this region using such a machine; it allows us to ensure top quality to our customers,” she said.

The new store, located at Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall, also offers the service of allowing the public to repair personal discs which can include music CD’s, DVD’s, games discs and data discs.
