Israeli warplanes attacked targets in southern Lebanon on Monday after Hizbullah detonated a bomb against an Israeli bulldozer in an occupied area near the border, Israel and Lebanese sources said.
Lebanese security officials said fighter jets fired two air-to-surface missiles at targets in the area of Qsair, about four miles from the Israeli border. Hizbullah's Al-Manar television station said two Lebanese women were injured in the airstrike.
The Israeli army confirmed that the air force "responded" against a Hizbullah target in Lebanon.
Al-Manar television said the explosive device planted by the Hizbullah fighters destroyed a bulldozer in the Shebaa Farms area near the Lebanese-Israeli border. It said there were "definite casualties" among the Israelis, adding that Israeli ambulances rushed to the area shortly after the early afternoon bombing.
The report said Israeli artillery gunners fired in apparent retaliation for the attack.
According to The AP, Lebanese security officials in the area reported that at least 25 shells fell near the village of Kfar Chouba near the Chebaa Farms.
