Two suspected drug traffickers escaped from a Jordanian prison overnight after managing to jump from a window as they were being moved to a cell, the official Petra news agency reported Friday.
Guards at Birin prison in the northern Amman suburb of Zarqa were moving a group of prisoners to a cell on the second floor when five of them managed to give their guards the slip and jump from the window.
Three of the prisoners suffered broken limbs and were quickly recaptured, but the other two escaped under cover of darkness.
Police have opened an inquiry into the incident, while a manhunt has been launched for the two escapees, whose identities were not given --AMMAN (AFP)
