Two strong explosions hit northern Tehran Thursday evening, witnesses told AFP.
The blasts, which occurred a few seconds apart from each other, hit at 6:50 p.m. (1520 GMT) near Mellat (People's) Park off the city's major north-south artery, Vali-Asr Avenue, said the agency.
No official information was immediately available on the blasts.
Two mortar attacks, claimed by the Iraq-based People's Mujahedeen armed opposition, rocked Tehran last month.
It was not known whether jailed members of the group have been released when Iran’s spiritual leader issued a pardon on the 22nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Iran’s news agency (IRNA) said Thursday that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Thursday granted amnesty and commuting of sentence to a group of prisoners convicted at public, revolutionary and military courts.
The leader's decision came upon a recommendation by Head of the Judiciary Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, said IRNA.
