Two Muslim prayer leaders fell ill and died within hours of each other while giving sermons on Friday at the same mosque in Egypt's Nile delta, officials said.
Sheikh Sayed al-Mirghani died after his blood pressure suddenly dropped while leading noon prayers at a mosque in Mit Abad, in the Mansura area north of Cairo, officials told Al-Ahram government newspaper.
He had offered to fill in for Sheikh Galal Abdel Muumin Ahmed, a friend of his who was feeling ill that morning. Sheikh Galal then gave Friday afternoon prayers at the same mosque where he fell ill and died of undisclosed causes.
The ministry of religious affairs immediately offered the families of both sheikhs financial compensation, according to the Al-Ahram report Sunday - CAIRO (AFP)
