A dramatic ship accident off the Turkish coast in which more than 50 illegal immigrants are feared dead is unlikely to discourage the flood of people trying to reach their Eldorado in Europe or the human traffickers who see Turkey as a "sieve" for their trade, The Middle East reported.
Modou is among those who trade in hope. Not yet 20-years-old, he became involved in human trafficking about a year ago after trying to reach family in Europe from his home in west Africa, the weekly paper said.
Turkey, on the eastern fringe of Europe, is considered one of the widest gateways for getting illegals to the continent.
Modou who has become a key contact for west Africans trying to get to the continent was quoted by the paper as saying "the country is a sieve. The borders are badly watched, like in Greece and Italy" -- Albawaba.com
