Tunisia concerned over Libyan move regarding Arab Maghreb Union

President Zein al Abdeen Ben Ali of Tunisia, phoned Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi, Wednesday evening, following a statement by Libya's General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation, in which Tripoli has relinquished the presidency of the Arab Maghreb Union.

 

According to local press reports, President Ben Ali expressed in his phone call to Kadhafi his "profound" concern and worry vis-à-vis the content of the Libyan statement. Urgent consultations and contacts in this respect were underway among the Union's member states, <i>JANA</I> reported.
