The Center of Foreign Press in Paris hosted on Friday a tribute ceremony to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the death of the eminent Moroccan journalist and publicist, Mohamed Bahi. The event was organized by the Circle of the Friends of Bahi.

Bahi, who was born in Mauritania and passed away on June 5, 1997 in Casablanca. He was one of the Maghreb’s leading figures in the struggle for democracy and human rights and devoted most of his life to promote democracy and the freedom of expression in the Arab world.

One of the key speakers in the event, reports Le Matin, was Mohamed Mlili, the former general manager of the Arab organization for Education, Sciences and Culture (ALECSO) who stated that "it would not be exaggerated to state that the Arab Maghreb did not produce until today another personality of Mohamed Bahi’s caliber, who was a man who could listen and who had an extraordinary capacity to analyze political events."
