The Matisse Art Gallery of Marrakech will hold a painting exhibition, from April 30 to May 20, in honor of the great Moroccan painter, Hassan El Glaoui and his 55 years of creativity.
El Glaoui was born in Marrakech in 1924. He started painting already in his teens (despite the opposition of his father, Thami El Glaoui, the powerful Pasha of the city). In 1950, he went to Paris and registered to the national School of Fine Arts, and in 1965, he returned to Morocco. Throughout the years, a number of exhibitions were devoted to his work in art galleries in Paris, New York, Brussels, London and Casablanca. The horse and its rider are one of the central themes in his art.
<i>EMarakech</i> reports that with the occasion of this exhibition, the gallery will also publish a 200-page book devoted to the artist and his work, which will be presented on April 29 at the Majorelle Garden.
