The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado watch for parts of North Texas, effective until Thursday evening.

This alert includes counties such as Young, Jack, Wise, Cooke, Grayson, and Montague, where severe storms have already begun to develop along a dryline.

Issued at 11:11 a.m. on Thursday, the watch remains in effect until 6 p.m., underscoring the need for residents to stay alert and prepared. The NWS emphasizes the importance of acting quickly to ensure safety during a tornado.

Residents are advised to keep informed about tornado watches and warnings by staying connected to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio. In case of a tornado warning, individuals should seek shelter in a basement, safe room, or an interior room without windows. Workplaces and schools should follow their tornado drill protocols, and those caught outside should seek immediate shelter in a sturdy building.

The NWS also recommends having an emergency kit ready, which should include essentials such as water, food, a cell phone with chargers, a battery-powered radio, a flashlight, and a first-aid kit.

As thunderstorms are likely to produce large hail, damaging wind gusts, and heavy rainfall, the NWS advises the public to monitor the forecast for any updates to the severe weather conditions that may impact the region.
