Two Iraqis were killed and nine injured when clashes broke out after Iraqi national guardsmen stormed into a Sunni mosque in Baghdad's Adhamiya district on Friday, medical sources said.

According to AFP, the clashes took place in the Al-Hanifa mosque, which has already been raided several times by US occupation forces in recent months.

Later, American troops arrived on the scene, entered the mosque, posting soldiers on the roof.

Also in Baghdad, a suicide car bomber attacked a police patrol on Friday, killing one policeman, police and hospital officials said, according to The AP. The attack in the eastern Zayouna neighborhood wounded at least four others, including two policemen, said officials at Kindi Hospital.

Meanwhile, the group of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi on Friday declared it had executed two Iraqi National Guards in Mosul, according to a statement published on an Islamist site.

"They were both slaughtered in Mosul in front of a large group of people," the statement said, adding it took place Thursday afternoon. The statement added the men killed were at the rank of major and lieutenant. (albawaba.com)
