ALBAWABA - In a Remarkable Act of Solidarity, Hundreds of American Jews Convene in New York to Protest Israel's Unprecedented Gaza Offensive"

As Israel's declaration of an extended operation in Gaza led to an unparalleled assault in the region, hundreds of American Jews came together for a peaceful demonstration at New York's iconic Grand Central Station, making a resounding call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Dressed in shirts that conveyed messages like "Jews Urging Swift Ceasefire" and "This Doesn't Represent Us," the demonstrators faced intervention from law enforcement, resulting in numerous detentions.

The heightened Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip prompted this extraordinary protest, bringing together hundreds of American Jews living in the United States who sought to emphasize the urgent need for a ceasefire.

Nevertheless, the peaceful demonstration encountered police intervention from the New York authorities. Protesters engaged in a sit-in were apprehended with their hands secured behind them.

The New York police disclosed that more than 200 individuals had been detained but were subsequently released after a brief period of custody. The organizers of the protest contested this number, claiming it exceeded 300 participants.

Participants in the demonstration affirmed that this event marked the most extensive act of civil disobedience in New York over the past two decades, taking place on the Jewish Sabbath, a day designated for rest and reflection.

In their official statement, the demonstrators declared, "Even on the Sabbath, we cannot rest while a genocide is being carried out in our name.
