Tejari, the region’s leading online marketplace, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Business Communications Networks (BCN), Bahrain’s first private telecoms provider, to launch Tejari operations in Bahrain and Qatar. Under the agreement, BCN will become the operator of Tejari Bahrain and Tejari Qatar, to give enterprises and government departments in both countries access to Tejari’s full range of business-to-business ecommerce solutions.

The agreement marks a major milestone in Tejari’s regional growth, and with the BCN partnership, Tejari has now launched dedicated operations in every country in the GCC and Levant.

BCN will operate online marketplaces under the Tejari brand in Bahrain and Qatar, to provide services that are customized for each country. BCN brings to Tejari its expertise as one of the largest VoIP call routing solutions companies operating in Bahrain, with more than 350,000 customers, and will play a central role in building relations with enterprises, government organizations and trading communities in Bahrain and Qatar.

“Bahrain and Qatar are both sophisticated markets, with developed economies and advanced communications infrastructures that are ideally suited to the adoption of e-commerce and online procurement. With the launch of Tejari Bahrain and Tejari Qatar, we will be able to introduce a world-class trading platform to these markets,” said Abdullah M. Al-Haider, Chairman of BCN.

“Tejari’s launch in partnership with BCN will allow us to help our customers to reduce procurement costs and to reach new customers, partners and markets. Tejari’s trading partners in both the public and private sectors have realized direct procurement savings of 15-20 percent plus indirect savings of more than 40 percent and we believe that we can create the same results in Bahrain and Qatar,” he added.

With the addition of Tejari Bahrain and Tejari Qatar, Tejari will now have a direct presence in ten countries, including UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Lebanon, KSA, and Pakistan..

“We are very pleased to be able to announce this new partnership with BCN, to bring Tejari’s ecommerce services directly to customers in Bahrain and Qatar. These are two of the most important, high-profile markets in the Middle East, with established business and enormous potential for growth, and we feel that they will play a key role in helping to make Tejari into the global gateway to online trade with the Middle East,” said Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari.
