Arab Israeli minister without portfolio, Salah Tarif, was appointed Monday by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to be in charge of Israeli Arab affairs, reported Haaretz newspaper.
Last week, Tarif threatened to resign from the government if the responsibility for Israeli Arab affairs was not transferred to him.
Until recently, the post was held by Sharon.
With the support of Tarif’s Labor colleagues in the coalition government, it was decided to press Sharon on the issue by way of Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, said the paper - Albawaba.com
