Egypt’s chief of staff and minister of defense, Field Marshal Mohammed Said Tantawi, said Wednesday that the national security of Egypt was inseparable from that of other Arab and African countries.
“Cooperation between us and these sister countries is the foundation of our joint national security,” the Cairo-based Al Ahram daily quoted Tantawi as saying at a military academy graduation ceremony.
The minister demanded the expansion of all studies vital to Egyptian and Arab national security, as well as students’ familiarization with a range of military and civilian problems.
He also highlighted the importance of science and technology in developing and modernizing the mentalities of leaders and officers, and the need for study abroad.
The minister also pointed out the importance of the academy in qualifying leaders and developing them to assume high-ranking posts - Albawaba.com
