The Taliban militia said Sunday that a US helicopter had been shot down within the borders of Afghanistan, killing all of the estimated 20-25 servicemen on board, according to Al Jazeera satellite channel.

Meanwhile, Taliban official said that 18 Afghans were killed and 25 wounded in US raids on Kabul overnight.

They said earlier in the day that at least 50-60 civilians had been killed in US attacks in the last three days in the western city of Herat, hours after the US announced the success of its first commando raids on Taliban sites in the south.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera reported that the Taliban cabinet was meeting to decide on the deployment of more anti-aircraft batteries, amid reports that the US had succeeded in destroying all such resistance – Albawaba.com
