AFP reported that between 12 and 15 kilos of explosives and four suicide belts were found in the baggage of a group of suspects at the Turkish border with Syria on Wednesday, a statement issued by the Turkish army stated.
The group of 34 people included four men, 10 women and 20 children who were stopped at the border town of Karkamis in southeastern Turkey.
According to AFP the army did not list the suspects with any specific militant group, but added that the Syrian town of Jerablus is currently occupied by Daesh and lies very near to the border crossing where the group was stopped.
There are around 30,000 Syrians trying to escape the constant Russian air bombardment of Aleppo massed together at the border town of Oncupinar, Turkey, 60 kilometers from where the explosives were seized.
Despite requests from the United Nations to open its borders, Turkey, which has already taken in 2.7 million refugees, refuses to the latest wave of refugees into their country.
For now, Turkey prefers to provide humanitarian aid across the border instead, AFP stated.
