Syria’s Vice President Abdul-Halim Khaddam received on Tuesday PLO Political Department Chief Farouk Qaddoumi.

During the meeting, talks focused on Israel’s violence against the Palestinians, according to SANA news agency.

In addition, talks centered on the Arab situation and the need for an effective Arab solidarity to face the dangers threatening the Arab nation.

Earlier, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara received Qaddoumi. Talks centered on the current situation in the Palestinian territories and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s “policy of killing and destruction against the unarmed Palestinian people”, SANA added.

Al-Shara stressed his country’s principled policy of supporting resistance and Intifada until liberation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Moreover, he emphasized the “one-poled policy” pursued by Washington and the tense atmosphere in the region due the US intention to launch aggression against Iraq in spite of the Iraqi commitment to resolution 1441 and cooperation with the UN arms inspectors, the news agency added.

He also stressed the necessity for the activation of an Arab unified and clear stance in rejecting the US threat of war against Iraq, leading to a peaceful solution to the problem and easing the siege on the people of Iraq. (Albawaba.com)
