Syria on Friday announced it foiled attacks by a "terrorist" group in Damascus area. According to SANA, security forces managed to foil the plots of this group which aimed at carrying out bombings and attacks against different businesses in order to create insecurity and instability in Damascus and in Damascus countryside.
The group called itself as "Sham Organization For al Jiahad and Tawhid". During a raid in the area of Daf al Shok in Damascus suburbs, an armed clash took place between security agents and the members of group. One ASyrian security officer was killed and another wounded, while two of the "terrorists" were killed and a third was arrested, SANA added.
Weapons and ammunitions were seized in a rented flat which was used as a refuge, comprised of three automatic machine guns, two grenades, including anti-vehicles grenade, two pistols in addition to a large ammunition and two wireless contact radios and four mobile phones. Documents and pamphlets pertaining to al Sham Soldiers Organization were also seized.
Earlier this year some members of this organization were detained but this detention was not announced at the time in order to nail the head of this group who was called Abu-Omar and was killed Thursday along with another one called Abu-Ahmad.
One member of this group planted an explosive device on the Damasscus -Zabadani road which was destined to be exploded by remote control at the end of last January, but it was discovered before the explosion.
