Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad is set to visit Tehran on Wednesday for talks on the standoff between Iraq and the United States amid a flurry of regional diplomatic activity, an Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said Sunday.
Hamid Reza Asefi said President Assad would discuss, "the situation in Iraq and the consequences for the countries of the region" with Iranian leaders, according to AFP.
In addition, the talks are expected to focus on, "the crisis in Palestine and the crimes of the Zionist regime" in Israel, he added. (Albawaba.com)
