Syrian President Bashar Assad arrived Saturday in Libya for talks with Leader Moammer Kadhafi on bilateral ties and the situation in the Middle East, reported the Lebanese daily As-Safir.

Assad toured several Arab countries including Bahrain, UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Sources told the paper that his tour aims at clarifying Syria’s conditions that it will not resume talks with Israel unless the Jewish state abides by UN resolutions and fully withdraws from the Golan Heights, occupied in 1976.

The daily, meanwhile, quoted sources close to Assad as saying that he will head to Khartoum following his visit to Tripoli – Albawaba.com
