Syria has abolished two key taxes in order to boost non-oil exports, reported the Gulf Daily News on Wednesday.

President Bashar Al Assad issued a decree removing one tax on agricultural production and another tax on revenues received from exports, a presidential spokesman said.

Oil, which accounts for about three quarters of the country’s exports, was excluded, as were phosphate products.

Cotton, wheat, citrus fruits and apples are among Syria’s main agricultural exports – Albawaba.com
