Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir received Wednesday a message from Kuwait’s emir, Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, dealing with bilateral ties, reported the official Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.
The message was conveyed by Kuwaiti State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al Sabah, who arrived in Khartoum late Tuesday.
The minister is the first senior official to arrive in Khartoum since 1991, when Iraq invaded the Gulf state.
Upon arrival, the minister said ties with Sudan were “solid and deep-rooted in the heritage of the two peoples.”
The minister said that he "conveys regards and greetings of his highness the emir and crown prince and prime minister to the Sudanese President Lieutenant General Omar Al Bashir and the Sudanese people."
The minister expressed wishes for even more cooperation and consultation between the two states in all fields, asserting "Kuwait will continue contributing to development projects in Sudan."
Meanwhile, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Ismael expressed appreciation for Kuwait's role in supporting Arab rights and unity, regarding the Palestine issue in particular, said KUNA.
He said he hoped that Sheikh Mohammad's visit would "activate ties in the best interests of the two peoples." – Albawaba.com
