The Sudanese army has foiled a rebel attempt to bomb its 1,500-km oil export pipeline, a security source announced on Friday.
The source was quoted by the official Saudi News Agency (SPA) as saying tha the security forces defused six landmines and time bombs found during a regular overnight patrol on Wednesday south of Sinkat, about 550 km northeast of Khartoum.
Southern rebels fighting for independence fro Sudan for 17 years have previously succeeded in similar attack, claiming that the Islamic government of Khartoum uses oil revenues in its operations gainst them – Albawaba.com
