Sudan's first vice president, Ali Osman Taha, said on Saturday in Damascus that his country wants to enhance its cooperation with Syria, especially in the economic field.

"I hope that my visit will strengthen the ties of fraternity and cooperation between our two countries and our understanding over the Palestinian cause," Taha told journalists upon his arrival in the Syrian capital.

Taha, who will co-chair with Syrian Prime Minister Mustapha Miro meetings of the Syrian-Sudanese high commission, said he hoped for a "a new era of investment and economic cooperation" between the two countries.
