Sudan’s President Omar Bashir arrives Sunday in Cairo for talks with his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak on bilateral and regional issues.

The two leaders will discuss ways of strengthening bilateral ties as well as a proposed suggestion to transform the current joint committee, set up to enhance Egyptian-Sudanese ties, into a higher one to be co-chaired by the two leaders, reported Al-Ahram daily.

Other topics are reconciliation between the Sudanese government and the opposition parties, said the paper.

The latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the joint Egyptian-Jordanian peace initiative will also be discussed on the regional level, said the paper.
