Spain's Foreign Minister Josep Pique will start on Sunday a tour of North African Arab countries, in order to hold talks with his counterparts on their countries' positions on the US-led anti-terrorism coalition.
Pique will visit Morocco, Algeria and Libya, said the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA), adding that Pique would brief foreign ministers of the three Arab countries on the outcomes of his latest tour with the European troika delegation to Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria and Egypt.
The troika delegation held talks with officials of these countries on their stances toward the international coalition.
Pique will also brief the three countries on the results of his talks with US Secretary of State Collin Powell and a number of senior officials in the Bush administration in Washington on Friday, which focused on means of developing cooperation between the US and Spain in the field of fighting terrorism.
Bilateral relations will be the core of discussions between Pique and his Moroccan counterpart, Mohammed bin Issa, said the agency.
In Algiers, Pique's talks will focus on bilateral economic cooperation, particularly regarding the natural gas industry. Algiers is exporting large quantities to Spain through an Algerian-Euro gas pipeline.
In the Libyan capital, the talks will focus on Spanish plans to push forward the European-Mediterranean dialogue during Spain's chairmanship of the European union, which will start early next January, KUNA added – Albawaba.com
