Some 100 residents of south Lebanon demonstrated Friday in Bastara village -- bombarded two days earlier by Israel -- to demand a UN post to protect them.
The residents of the border town of Kfarshouba presented a petition to an Indian officer in Bastara with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, urging UN troops to set up a post in their village to stop it from also being an Israeli target.
The Israeli army fired about a dozen shells Wednesday against the village in an area home to four shepherd families after a mortar was fired against an Israeli position in the disputed Shabaa Farms.
One hundred goats were killed by the Israeli shells. An Indian UN team has been caring for the other injured goats, disinfecting their wounds and stitching their cuts -- BASTARA, Lebanon (AFP)
