ALBAWABA - Citing Israeli reports, news website Arab48 revealed that several war crimes and crimes against humanity lawsuits have been filed against Israeli officials in South Korea, Including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben Gevir, Minister of National Security.

The report revealed that the lawsuit was filed by a leftist human rights organization, which asserted that these officials were involved in planning, instructing, and executing crimes such as attacks on medical institutions, use of illegal weapons, including prohibited chemical weapons, and other violations during the war on Gaza.

The names listed in the suit include; Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Defense Minister Yoav Galant, Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The suit calls for the extradition of Israeli officials to South Korea to stand before the Korean courts to be prosecuted in the country. Earlier in May, People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy (PSPD) and Asian Dignity Initiative (ADI) filed the lawsuits, with approximately 5000 plaintiffs.

The suit was filed under South Korean law concerning crimes under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, with prosecutors Lim Jae-Young from Haemaru Law Firm and Kim Nam-Joo from Doman Law Firm.

In a statement, Lim Jae Young stated that the suit is considered a step forward in holding accountability for those who are responsible for the genocidal acts in Gaza.

Lim also added that the 140-page complaint, which was filed with almost 5,000 plaintiffs, documents the losses inflicted in Gaza including the number of civilians killed between October 7 and April 30.

He also added that the suit counts as a small act of solidarity with the people of Gaza and documentation of the continuous crimes committed in Gaza.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 37,626+ people, with more than 86,098+ injuries.

Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
