The turnout of the young and hip at Fusion 06 the exhibition for all that is young and hip was a remarkable success. Bridging the gap and connecting the old with the new was Sony Ericsson Walkman® phones. The classic Walkman® model phones let you to get your groove on anytime anywhere and, at Fusion 06, Sony Ericsson had the crowd pumping at the first Fusion event in the Middle East. The cool vibe lasted throughout the three-day event as the Sony Ericsson stand kept the crowds entertained by blasted out tunes from the hip Walkman® series phones and displayed the best moves of freestyle and break dancers .
When Sony created the Walkman in 1980s, music suddenly became portable. When MP3 players became an essential gadget, it was only a matter of time before the original portable music player resurfaced. Sony Ericsson has brought the Walkman that we all knew and loved back in a stylish and hip new incarnation, loaded with more features. The major difference, of course, is that the new Walkman is also now a mobile phone.
"We have witnessed radical changes as to how people communicate. The range of technology available in the market now not only allows people to connect through words and images, but also through music," says Husni Al-Assi, General Manager of Sony Ericsson, Middle East and North Africa.
Continuing with the tradition of previous Walkman® phones is the UMTS enabled W850i, the newest Walkman® release on display at Fusion. Sony Ericsson’s first GSM/UMTS ‘slider phone’, has been uniquely combined with the full horizontal mode camera experience and the latest Walkman® player 2.0 for easy music download. It offers a 1GB memory stick PRO Duo which is enough for around 1,000 songs in e-AAC+. This can be expanded to 4GB so that you can store a much larger music collection and have it with you all of the time. There is also a high performance 2 Megapixel camera that makes it fun to capture your favorite moments and share them with friends.
"The Sony Ericsson Walkman® series has captured the imagination of mobile users who prefer just a bit more entertainment in their handsets," said Mr Al-Assi. “This is a particularly attractive segment, considering both its size and influence, which is partly the reason for the immense popularity of the Walkman series.”
Fusion 06 ran from September 21 to 23 at the Dubai Airport Expo.
