Russian swimmer Roman Sludnov smashed on Thursday the world 100m breaststroke record when he posted a new time of 1min 00.36sec at the Russian swimming championships held in Moscow.
Fred Deburghgraeve of Belgium established the previous 100m breaststroke mark 1:00.60 at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Sludnov also established 100m and 200m breaststroke records in the 25-metres course earlier this year in Athens, Greece – (AFP)
