Sheikh Maktoum Inaugurates Turquoise Oasis

Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Thursday night will open the Turquoise Oasis, which is organized under the umbrella of the Dubai: The City That Cares 2001 festival. 

The Turquoise Oasis, said Khaleej Times, is located at the 85,000 square meter-venue of the Global Village, and is themed as Ramadan in Central Asia. 

It is a high-tech game with festive colors and lights, and has been brought to Dubai for the first time. 

Thani Juma'a Berregad, chief coordinator of Dubai: The City That Cares 2001 has said that “the theme of Ramadan from a certain area in the Islamic world will be carried in each oasis, the Emerald Oasis will feature Ramadan in North Africa, the Pearl Oasis will represent the Gulf countries, Topaz will symbolize East Asian countries, the Ruby Oasis will highlight Middle Eastern countries, and the Turquoise Oasis will illustrate Central Asian countries."  

The Turquoise Oasis, according to the paper, is divided into three areas: family fun city, shopping and restaurants, and the sports village that to be opened on December 1.  

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has been decked out with thousands of multi-colored Ramadan lanterns and lights at a cost of Dh2.2 million ($600,000) for the fourth consecutive year promotional program, which will end after Eid Al Fitr – Albawaba.com
