The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) called on the local furniture retail and production sector to develop stronger consumer ties and continue to produce high quality world class products in order to attract more sales activity into the emirate. The call was made during a recent consultative meeting between the chamber and members of Sharjah's furniture sector at the SCCI headquarters. The meeting was highlighted by the planned launch of 'Furniture Week Promotion'—the third installment of SCCI's 'Shopping Weeks' initiative that aims to increase sales activity in the emirate and provide support to its associate members by organizing promotional campaigns for each segment of the trade and retail sector.

Present during the meeting were Hamad Al Mahmoud, SMB Support Project Manager and head of the Shopping Weeks initiative, SCCI; chamber officials and various representatives of the emirate's thriving furniture retail and production sector. The meeting involved key discussions on how to further enhance and develop the furniture sector. The SCCI also presented the framework for the planned 'Furniture Week Promotion', which will be held for two weeks in December 2010 along key clustered areas that host a wide variety of furniture shops. The two-week campaign is also expected to host a series of furniture exhibitions and sales promotions to help attract more visitors. To help drum up more publicity for the event, the SCCI plans to provide the participants with the necessary advertising and promotional requirements to help make the campaign successful.

Hamad Al Mahmoud said, "Sharjah is widely known around the UAE as home to some of the best furniture stores and shops; housing also the best furniture makers and designers and churning out world class quality products that are largely in demand both here and abroad. Today's meeting allowed the SCCI to meet with the representatives of the furniture sector and to encourage them to strengthen and develop consumer ties and continue to produce world class products in order to help attract more economic activity into the emirate. Moreover, the SCCI will host and organize 'Furniture Week Promotion', the third installment of our 'Shopping Weeks' initiative to provide our associate members with essential marketing and promotional support, advanced infrastructure services and other key benefits that can further develop their businesses and increase their profits."

The 'Shopping Weeks' initiative aims to increase sales activity for associate members by organizing promotional campaigns for each segment of the trade and retail sector. The 'Furniture' promotion comes after the success of the 'Mobile Phone Bazaar' and 'Auto Parts Week' promotion programs that were held earlier this year. These promotional programs allow the SCCI to showcase products and services of participating stores, shops and centers--providing key benefits like advertising, media coverage and effective marketing strategies. Street decors, colorful mounted displays and posters were also used to add color to Sharjah's streets where most of the participating stores were located. The initiative is part of the chamber's continued commitment to help position the emirate as an ideal business and investment destination in the Middle East region and bring Sharjah one step closer towards its goal of achieving total sustainable development.
