A settler shot dead a Palestinian man near the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar on Tuesday. The settler said the Palestinian had infiltrated his home and tried to attack his wife with a knife. However, Israeli forces and police found out the Palestinian was unarmed.

Sources said the Palestinian was harvesting olives in the area when he was shot.

Meanwhile, thousands of "anti-disengagement" protestors gathered Tuesday around the Israeli parliament (Knesset) ahead of a vote Tuesday night on Ariel Sharon's pullout plan from the Gaza Strip. The demonstrators created a human chain, which stretched all around the Knesset and included settlers from "Gush Katif" settlement bloc, who are slated for evacuation as well as settlers from the other parts of the occupied Palestinian territories.

Large police forces are stationed around the Knesset as well as in the entrance to Jerusalem and in major intersections in the city, The JPost reported. (albawaba.com)
