A close aide to the Palestinian President said Sunday that Arafat intends to ask Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, who resigned a day earlier, to stay in his post as Prime Minister.
During an interview with Al Jazeera, Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that Yasser Arafat had asked Abbas' government to stay on as a transitional government, at least in the upcoming two weeks.
Earlier Sunday, the Fatah Central Committee met in the West Bank city of Ramallah to discuss possible
