Two suspected extremists were killed and another arrested in violent clashes Monday with Saudi security forces. The clashes took place in a residential quarter in the south-west of Riyadh, residents in the area told a foreign news agency.

SPA reported one man was killed in the clash. He was identified as Ibrahim bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Rayyis, who was among the persons wanted by the Saudi authorities and whose names were published on Sunday.

According to locals, security forces stormed into a house Monday morning, where they searched for armed suspects they believed were hiding there. The house, located in the Al-Suwaidi quarter, was raided and followed by an intense exchange of fire, a witness was quoted as saying.

Two armed men were killed and another arrested, said another resident. Security forces were deployed around the area, a reporter conveyed.

"On a search of Al-Rayyis, forged documents were found with him, in addition to a hand grenade," a Saudi official told SPA, noting that when his residence was searched, three hand grenades, a machine gun, three pistols and a quantity of ammunitions were also found.
