Saudi Arabia and Yemen signed in Sanaa on Thursday an agreement of joint cooperation in the field of electricity, reported the official Saudi news agency (SPA) on Friday.

Under the agreement, the two countries will exchange expertise and training programs in the electricity sector, and at the same time they will encourage commercial and industrial investment in this sector.

The agency said that the two sides underlined the importance of re-conducting study on the project of electric grid between the two countries in the light of the development witnessed by the electricity sectors in both countries.

Yemen and Saudi Arabia settled last year a border dispute. The agreement signed was followed by a number of cooperation accords in different fields.

Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz was in Yemen last month to attend the country’s unity celebrations, the highest ranking visit by a Saudi official there since both sides signed the border agreement in June 2000 – Albawaba.com
