In front of nearly one hundred thousand cheerers and spectators and on the Saudi desert dunes, held the championship of "Red Bull Challenge the Pyramid", which is considered the largest official championship for "Al-Tatees" motor sport in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states. The championship was organized and supervised by the Saudi Committee for Motor and Motorbikes Sport at the General Presidency of Youth Welfare in collaboration with the Supreme Commission of Tourism.
A special and distinctive ceremony held on Monday Nov 27th for the distribution of awards to the winners whom scored the best results in "Red Bull Challenge the Pyramid" championship, with the presence of Mishaal Al-Sodairy, Chairman of the Saudi Motor Sport Committee in the General Presidency for Youth Welfare.
On this occasion, Mr. Mishall Al-Sodairy said: " Red Bull and the organizing committee has always been keen on the safety of participants and spectators alike. For this reason, after the irresponsible groups of people broke into the race and beyond the separating fence, and in view of their non responding to the calls of the police and organizers, the Committee decided to halt the race in order to maintain security and safety of all. And decided to postpone the honorary ceremony and distribution of the awards to today, Monday."
This championship comes as the finale of the multi-sports activities, which were set up by Red Bull in Saudi Arabia during 2006 under the auspices of the General Presidency for Youth Welfare, the High Authority for Tourism and Saudi Flying Club. The most important event of which was Al-Khobar cornish demonstration by Red Bull Racing Team , the Dutch driver Robert Dornbos, in his F1 racing car, as well as the acrobatic air show by Red Bull's Flying Bulls team in Riyadh on the occasion of opening of the Flying School in the Saudi Flying Club, plus the stunning landing of Red Bull Flying Bulls teams on Tahlia street in Jeddah, which is the first of its kind in the history of any Arab city.
